Eagle vs Shark, Yis

Heb je wel eens dat je een film kijkt en je achteraf afvraagt wat je nou precies gezien hebt? En nee, ik bedoel niet die hyperaction films of Saw-achtige flicks. Ik heb het over films die je intrigeren, maar je weet niet precies waarom.

Eagle vs Shark gaat over muurbloempje Lilly die verliefd wordt op de sociaal- en contactgestoorde Jarred. Probleem is dat Jarred een zelfingenomen pik is die Lilly niet echt ziet staan. Die zelfingenomen pik wordt trouwens gespeeld door die grote, lelijke papi uit Flight Of The Conchords, wat qua sfeer en humor sterk in het verlengde van Eagle vs Shark ligt.

Net als in Flight Of The Conchords zit de grap hem dan ook niet in de nodige slapstick of scherpe opmerking, eigenlijk lach je om de kneuterigheid van de hoofdpersonen.

Dat gezegd hebben wil ik je er nog even op wijzen dat Eagle vs Shark een Nieuw-Zeelandische film is. Grappig accentje, waarbij de I wordt uitgesproken als IE en elke andere klinker dan weer als een I wordt uitgesproken. ‘Freaking bitch’ wordt dus ‘Frikien Bietch’ en ‘Yes’ iets van ‘Yis’. Funny people.

Mijn favoriete weblog is al een tijdje The Arab Parrot. Reza Nader schiet niet alleen heel dope fotootjes, papi weet wat-is-áán en zeikt al die streetwear- en imitatiepapi’s af zoals ik dat ook graag doe. Die Arabier uit LA is mad funny. “I eat, drink, & sleep the Parrot it has consumed my life. I love taking photo's and do so with the intention of telling a story of what I did and what I saw that day or night. “I've been in a few fights in my life, I grew up in NY so High School was all about beef, especially my senior year in 94. But I don't condone or advocate violence, I'll rather survey & slay with my words. Plus beef at this age is just super gay.”
